Welcome to our Recovery Home

The Moraine House was founded 1976.This is a recovery home for men based on family values. One of the keys to our continued success is the therapeutic value of alcoholics and addicts working together. Our treatment program is based on the 12 step principles and values of the AA and NA programs. These fellowships are based on spirituality, which increases are success for long term recovery.

Moraine House has changed many lives over the years. There are many men who truly need and want our program. A lot of our men often enter our home with just the clothes on their backs with no financial resources to support them. Thanks to your help and others who appreciate what we do. These men leave us as productive members of society practicing gratitude and carrying hope to others who are still suffering.

     The Idea

Moraine House is a home where residents live and work together toward establishing a life of sobriety and assuming respected roles in society.

They are also expected to share the responsibilities of keeping a home, to participate in Moraine House programs and share with others. Residents of Moraine House are expected to seek and to maintain normal health and gainful employment.

Significantly, this participation happens in the atmosphere of family living which sets Moraine House apart from an institutional setting, such as a hopital or a clinic.

Moraine House serves as a recovering chemical dependent's home until he feels completely able to resume active life in every day world.

The Hopeful Side of Addiction

Those who struggle with drug addiction don't set out to destroy themselves, everyone and everything in their path--rather, these disastrous consequences are the effect of the vicious cycle of addiction.

Once again, Moraine House will be collaboration with Alice's House and Respite Housein the 2011 annual Walk for Recovery.

The common goal of all three participating non-profit Agencies is to address a disease rampant in our country and our nation. Addiction affects each and every one of our lives; it impacts our families, our schools, and our work environments.

In fact, Moraine House has helped thausands of men for more than thirty-three years discover a new way of life - without alcohol and drugs - to become productive members of our community and caring sons and fathers.

We are not Goverment funded and most of our clients are indigent and depend on our compassion and support.

Alcohol and drugs is a very big problem in our communities today. Lives and families are being destroyed as a direct result of the abuse.  People who have this deadly disease are constantly living in fear, remorse and overwhelming shame. These individuals are constantly seeking a solution to free themself from their addiction. For many years the Moraine House and Alice's (for women) are committed to help those individuals. We are trying to lead them on the path of recovery by giving them hope, encouragement and a new outlook on life. Walk for Recovery will hopefully bring a better understanding of this Malady, a social awareness of this crisis and a more combined effort for a better society of tomorrow.
